How to Remove Wallpaper Using a Jiffy Steamer
Recently, I was helping a friend remodel and we tackled removing the wallpaper first. You know the type of wallpaper, small country blue flowers surrounded by country rose hearts and bows. This wallpaper has been there for decades. We have all been subjected to it, but removing it is a battle that only the bravest choose to fight. By using the Jiffy Steamer as the main weapon, the wallpaper did not put up a fight at all.
We steamed the wall beginning at the corner, using the Jiffy Steamer J-2000 with the standard plastic steam head, allowing the steam to penetrate through the wallpaper, glue and begin to peal downward. As you peal downward, make certain the steam head is working ahead of you, moving it slowly down the wall. We found it useful to use a scraper to help some of the tougher spots to be removed. Some of the areas required re-steaming, but overall it was a successful battle. Then using warm soapy water and a sponge we were able to wipe the glue and dirt from the walls. Once this process was complete and dry, we were able to begin painting.
Using the Jiffy Steamer can make this battle against removing wallpaper more like a walk in the park. In the photo below, she is removing wallpaper with the the J-4000C, which has a 12 inch metal head and will cover a large surface area at one time. Although I chose to use the residential Jiffy J-2000, either model will aid with removing wallpaper. Contact our Customer Care Team today with any other questions about the Jiffy Steamer J-2000 or the J-4000C (which has the larger metal head). We would love to know how you use your Jiffy Steamer, please comment below about what you can do with your steamer.
